Silver is just over two years old. He’s our youngest foster dog and he had a
very tough start. Silver’s early experiences with humans, especially men, left
him fearful, and his way of protecting himself was to bite. This meant even

routine vet visits had to be carefully managed.
The good news is that Silver has come a long way in his year and a half with

us. With a female foster carer who knows him inside out, and a supportive
vet, he’s now far more relaxed and confident. He no longer feels the need to
use his teeth to keep people at bay.

Silver and his foster mum are working with a force-free groomer, to help
them build skills for long-term coat care together.

Doogal is our longest foster resident who came to us with Copper Toxicosis,

which means he will always be a forever foster. He is thriving on his special
diet (lovingly prepared by his carer), with supplements and regular blood
checks to keep his liver healthy.

His latest tests came back spot on! Although his eyesight is fading, it doesn’t
stop him getting around the house, garden, and his favourite walks. His

foster mum helps by keeping the way clear for him, and he navigates
                 confidently.

He has started showing some seasonal allergies – not totally unusual as age
creeps up and immune systems change, but we have started a monthly

allergy injection to help him and it’s working well.
