Thank you for sponsoring Ewan!
This page is dedicated to Ewan and all his news. We will be posting regular updates about his progress and he will also be chipping in himself from time to time!
His foster parents will also add some snippets of their life with Ewan and of course share some photos with you.
Be sure to pop back regularly to see how he is doing!
I’m a BTRF foster dog and live with a lovely family who look after me so well. My amazing foster mum and care team will keep a very close eye on me to make sure I stay well.
Ewan is six years old and he came into the care of BTRF because his owner could no longer keep him and asked BTRF to find a very special home for him. Ewan is a real ‘cuddle bunny’ and loves anyone who will fuss him and let him sleep on their lap (for hours!!).
Ewan has a lot of allergies that are common in Bedlingtons, and needs a very carefully formulated diet and supplements, as well as monthly allergy injectons. Your support will help pay for Ewan’s on-going vet bills, his regular medication and specialist food whilst he lives his very best life with BTRF in foster care.

Ewan came into BTRF foster care last spring after a change in his owner’s circumstances. When he arrived, it quickly became clear that he was very uncomfortable physically. He was stiff, sore, and unsure about walks, toys and playing, or even moving around very much. As a result, he just didn’t - and most of the time chose to lie quietly at home – not at all what we expect for a Beddie of this age.
We saw improvements with pain relief trials but xrays didn’t show the underlying cause of the problems so we have been working hard to get to the bottom of it. A recent review at the Renew Centre in Gloucestershire showed a painful problem in the muscles around his hip – which were putting pressure on his sciatic nerve – ouch!
Thanks to the dedication of his foster carers, the support of his care team here at the rescue and his veterinary team, we are very happy to share with you the news that Ewan has made really encouraging progress following his last few months of treatment. He is much more comfortable. His movement has improved and he is beginning to enjoy life again and best of all, learn to play - something his foster family and the BTRF team have found so rewarding – a happy dog, showing his cheeky Beddie side!
Like many Bedlington Terriers, Ewan also struggles with allergies, which we continue to manage carefully with treatment and monitoring. While this can sometimes cause flare-ups, things are currently improving and he is responding well to his care plan.
Ewan’s journey isn’t finished yet, however! The next stage of his recovery will involve physiotherapy to help rebuild strength and confidence in his movement, and another visit to The Renew Centre for a full review.
The most important news is that Ewan is feeling and doing so much better than when he first arrived. Your Sponosrship has helped provide his specialist care and treatment, but we still need your support as we move into the next stage of his rehabilitation.
Welcome Ewan!
We have a new foster dog – Ewan! He came into our care a few weeks ago and is really starting to settle in with his new long term foster family so we thought it would be time to introduce him to you all!
Ewan was a very genuine rehome due to personal circumstances and his previous home was able to work closely with us to make the transition as smooth as possible for all concerned.
A few weeks in and he is really starting to settle into his new life, his character is beginning to shine through, and he is already very much loved by his foster parents! He is a real ‘cuddle bunny’ and loves lots of fuss and attention as well as a lap to take a nap on at any opportunity!
He is a very sweet boy, but we are having to unpick the usual allergies that are so common in the Bedlingtons that come into us, but we also have some suspicions that he may have some musculoskeletal associated pain. As always, his BTRF care team are working through everything bit by bit so that he can feel comfy and at his very best.
It’s early days yet but we will keep you posted as we progress through his treatment plan and of course, Ewan will introduce himself personally once he feels ready!
