• Burn’s Dog’s Day Out 2016

  • I did wonder if all the wet stuff that fell on Saturday might put a stop to the Dog's Day Out on Sunday. I woke up to a very misty scene - we live quite high up in the clouds in the beautiful Carmarthenshire countryside!!!!!!!!! Loaded up the car with lots of BTR 'goodies' and drove to Pembrey Country Park, the venue for the Dog's Day Out. Burn's were celebrating their 10th Anniversary of the event this year as BTR are celebrating their 40th anniversary - so quite appropriate for us to be there to celebrate with them! Fortunately the sun made an appearance for some of the day.

After a couple of teething problems - kindly sorted out by Rowan from Burn's Pet Nutrition - I managed to get the table and goodies all sorted and I was ready for the off!

The BTR stand was in the marquee again this year in case of rain and in hindsight it might have been beneficial to put one of our pop up banners on the outside of the marquee to make it clearer that I was in there. Especially when I saw 3 Beddies and their owners pass by! But they did eventually find me and it was nice to catch up and speak to a couple who have a 15 year old dog.

I was visited by Enid Jones, a friend and 2 Beddies. Enid kindly manned man the stand for me so that I could go and have a wander and to try and meetup with John Burns to thank him personally for agreeing to sponsor BTR's attendance at Discover Dogs this year. He was more than happy to put his name to BTR!

I felt that the turnout of dogs, of all shapes, colours, and sizes was greater than previous years, and all were mostly well behaved!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The rain held off for most of the day, just a few drops fell as I was packing up the car. We raised just £12.50 on the day but it was interesting to talk to several members of the public and yet another way to raise the profile of our wonderful breed!

I am sorry that my 'PA', Kaye Scott, was not with me as she would have taken some photos.....sorry!!
